There are two things I’ve always been serious about: food and style. Mix the two together; add two (heaping) parts fitness, two parts health (be generous), and a pinch (or two) of sass. Mix well and bake until golden brown. And there you have it: Style Activist — a blog that is as tasty to your eyes as it is good for thighs.
My mission is to share my love for wellness as more than just an accessory, but really the most stylish staple in any woman’s closet. A healthy lifestyle is a stylish one, and vice versa. I’m here to shout from the rooftops: “WELLNESS LOOKS GOOD ON EVERYONE!” Can you hear me?
I used to work in fashion PR and fashion merchandising, but found myself more in love with eating healthy and getting sweaty in the gym than anything else. After realizing that I wanted to turn my love for health and fitness into a career and keep my love for fashion as more of a glorified hobby, I enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and then started my journey as a health coach. Now I’m using my knowledge and experience in health and fitness to coach young career-driven women who have little time, but an insatiable desire to look good and feel good. It’s the best job in the whole world.
I have a pretty ugly background of digestive issues and hormonal imbalances that no doctor or “healer” could figure out. I was slapped with a “really bad case of IBS” diagnosis, given a pat on the back, and was sent on my merry way. Refusing to accept that I would have to “just deal with it” for the rest of my life, I began what would be a year of experimenting with food and just good ol’ trial and error. I tried every health approach under the sun, but what absolutely saved me was discovering the Whole30 and Whole 9 Life. Now I maintain a paleo lifestyle of eating whole foods, and my health has done a total 180. I have never felt better or healthier in my whole life. Paleo brought me to CrossFit and well, needless to say, my life has been changed forever. I got my CrossFit Level 1 Trainer cert and I can’t shut up about power cleans or hand stand push ups.
I’m addicted to avocados, green smoothies, I love lifting heavy weights in the gym, snuggling with my rescue pitbulls Olive and Mila, the ocean, meeting new people, and traveling as much as possible.
